Charcoal Drawing
Seven Step Method Procedure

1. Ball - Basic Shape of Cranial 2. Ball & Plane
3. Envelope Method 4. Constuction Lines 5. Light charcoal pencil drawing 6. Brush Drawing and Blending
7. Detailings
Drawing Materials:
Vine charcoal sticks, willow charcoal powder, charcoal pencil, blending stamp, kneaded eraser, rubber eraser, liner brush #1, angular #2, filbert or dagger #4, fan brush cleaner, round brush #10, 12 and 18, charcoal illustration boards, paper, card or canvas.
Drawing is largely a matter of practice and observation using eyes all the time. Good drawing can be with a piece of vine charcoal and a drawing board, sketching using freely in any space, we can draw in trains, cafes, museums or parks... anywhere. Drawing is self-critical which is the best renditions, planning in the early stage minimize the modifying errors, using mechanics in the construction lines gives a precise line of proportions.
7. Detailing layer - final touches, pulling the shades and shadows to define contrast of values and soft edges.

6. Drawing and blending with a dry brush technique creates a smooth transition of values - final touches, pulling the shades and shadows, raising the solidity of the lighted form are defined. Some compositions are applied, the blurry edges merging to background, the lost and faded. Using kneaded eraser to define light section and because of its ability to reshape will gives a very confident line drawing.

4. Construction Lines - block-in precision
Envelope Method - block-in, the mathematics of envelope geometry of portraiture drawings are defined and proportions. From the ball of cranial represented by perfect circle and locating the center line projections, leads the precise building of envelope geometry. The negative surface and the silhouette drawing of lines of angles are always proportionate to each envelope, placing each details in a position.

3. Envelope Method

The cranial is added by a jaw plane and divide in half projecting the center line, the face is also divided equally 1/3 one third, the standard measurements in drawing and sectioning of facial form. Brow lines, nose and chin are observed equally and the hairline can vary in the proportion. Section of each thirds are mapping the place of details.

1. Ball - Basic Shape of Cranial - ball drawing crop with sides, making a cross section perspective guide. The the mass of cranium - in any angles the position of the ear is the starting key for the placement of the every details relies on it, equivalents to the eyebrow and nose position lines in the front view and the hair lines.

Thumbnail drawings sketching compositions - planning in the early stage - quick sketches getting the bearing of the models best features, construct and design to create the best posture composition. Using vine charcoal allows to change the details easily and quicly.
